Safety Ratings and Technology

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the 2018 CR-V a best-possible 5-Star Overall Rating, awarding perfect scores in nearly every test. Additionally, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety named it a 2018 Top Safety Pick. The IIHS gave the CR-V impeccable scores, including a Superior rating for front crash prevention.‡

The 2018 CR-V is available with the Honda Sensing system of driver assistance tech. The suite of features includes a Forward Collision Warning System, Lane Departure Warning, Collision Mitigation Braking, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Keeping Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic High Beams, and a Blind Spot Monitoring System with Cross Traffic Monitor.

Comfort and Convenience

Trims of the 2018 CR-V include the LX, EX, EX-L, and Touring. Standard seating includes a 6-way manually adjustable driver's seat and Easy Fold-Down 60/40 Split Rear Seat. The EX trim adds heated front seats and a 12-way power driver's seat with 4-way lumbar support. Upper trims include leather-trimmed seating and a 4-way power passenger's seat.

Available convenience features include dual-zone automatic climate control, Push Button Start, automatic dimming rearview mirror, a retractable cargo area cover, and the HomeLink Remote System. Additionally, you can opt for a One-Touch Power Moonroof, Power Tailgate with Programmable Height, fog lights, Smart Entry with Walk Away Lock, roof rails, and rear privacy glass.

Standard audio includes Bluetooth HandsFreeLink and Streaming Audio, Pandora Compatibility, a Radio Data System, USB Audio Interface, a 5-inch LCD screen, and 4-speaker audio. When you upgrade to the EX, you'll add 6-speaker audio, HondaLink, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Sirius XM Radio, and SMS text messaging. Eight- or nine-speaker audio and Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation with voice recognition, Digital Traffic, and HD Radio are included on upper trims.

Performance and Fuel Economy

The 2018 Honda CR-V has two engine options. The base is a 2.4-liter inline-4 that makes 184 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque, while you can upgrade to a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 that makes 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque. Both options have a continuously variable automatic transmission and available all-wheel drive.

According to estimates from the U.S. Department of Energy, the base CR-V with FWD gets up to 26 MPG city and 32 MPG highway and the AWD model gets 25 MPG city and 31 MPG highway. The turbo engine with FWD gets 28 MPG city and 34 MPG highway, while the turbo AWD gets 27 MPG city and 33 MPG highway.*
